Elder Christine McComb
Thank God for this opportunity to share with you through the medium of the world-wide-web! Thank God for the privilege of being in His family – chosen and beloved. I am also grateful that you have taken this time to visit our web site and to learn more about who we are and what we are doing.
To be a servant of God and a soldier in His army is the greatest of all blessings. While many might view this as a boring, dull existence, real lovers of God can be excited that He has chosen us for such a time as this. What we do with this, like all of our other God-given opportunities and blessings is up to us. How we serve and respond to the challenges that God places before us is up to us. And we can know this of a certainty, that at the end of the age, we all WILL give an account of what we have done with our stewardship.
Stewardship is such a wonderful concept. It is applicable to all of the resources that God has given (placed on loan) to us and how we make use of and care for those resources. Our time, our finances, our God given talents and spiritual gifts, the impact we have on others and our surroundings, all comes from God. They are given to us not just for us but for kingdom building. They are entrusted to us for us to invest, to take risks to expand upon, to become movers and shakers in order to promote and propagate the Gospel message.
The scripture teaches us that to whom much is given, much is also required. Unfortunately, the mind-set of many of the people of God is that we want to be given the keys to the kingdom; yet, we don’t want to be held accountable for kingdom work. Over the years, I have come to realize that if you want the fringe benefits, you must also be willing to do the job that goes along with those “perks.” God is looking for not just a “few good men and women” to go into the harvest, but He is looking for the masses who are willing to first of all get down on their knees to seek his face, get up and roll up their sleeves for work, go into the trenches, meet the enemy head-on, and become a spiritual force with which to be reckoned.
I encourage believers everywhere – young and old, newly born into the family of God and those who have been saved for many years, lower class, middle class, and upper class, educated, and uneducated, seminary trained and layperson – to decide today to become active for God. The book of Acts is descriptive of the actions that occurred following Christ’s ascension to heaven, after the disciples were filled with the Holy Spirit. The true church is one of continuous action. If you are a pew-member, it is time to get up and get busy. I admonish you to seek God for your place in the body of Christ and to begin to fulfill it. No one else can do the work that God has assigned to your hands. No one else is so uniquely qualified. Embrace the work of making disciples of men (and women/boys and girls).
Until next time –
The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face to shine upon you and give you peace.
God’s servant and yours,
